Competences
The Tribunal criminel is competent to judge offences for which the Public Prosecutor's Office intends to request a custodial sentence of more than 10 years. This is especially the case for murder and assassination.
Organization
Being a first instance authority, the Tribunal criminel sits in a formation of three professional judges and 4 assessor judges who are not professional judges.
