The Cour d'appel du Pouvoir judiciaire is responsible for determining, as the cantonal authority of the last instance, appeals against internal decisions to the Judiciary Power.

Competences

The  Cour d'appel du Pouvoir judiciaire deals with:

  • Appeals against decisions of the Conseil supérieur de la magistrature.
  • Appeals against decisions of the Commission de gestion du Pouvoir judiciaire and the Secretary General of the Judiciary Power in so far as they affect the rights and obligations of the personnel of the Judiciary Power.
  • Appeals against decisions of the Cour de justice when the law provides it.
  • Requests for lifting the official secrecy relating to the members of the Conseil supérieur de la magistrature and the magistrates of the Cour d'appel du Pouvoir judiciaire.

Organization and membership

The  Cour d'appel du Pouvoir judiciaire is made up of 3 judges and 3 deputy judges.

It is not subject to the supervision of the Conseil supérieur de la magistrature or  the direction of the Commission de gestion.

Its office is held by the Cantonal Chancellery.
